Knife River worked with Courtenay and Nathan of Big Sky Public Relations for 11 months on a large Montana Dept. of Transportation urban infrastructure improvement in Billings. The project reconstructed a busy two-mile stretch of road with over 110 residences and some sensitive commercial businesses. I found the whole group at Big Sky to be very professional, organized, and full of ideas for different outlets to reach the public about our construction disturbance. They put together a solid and multifaceted Public Awareness Campaign to reach the public through normal media outlets such as newspaper, radio, TV, and web. The campaign also went beyond the basics and used other fresh alternative outlets to inform as many people as possible. Questions and complaints predictably arose, and they were skillfully handled for positive results. Big Sky came with past MDT project experience, and also with a good past working relationship with key MDT people in Helena that helped the project.
