I love traveling to Canada, been to Canada dozens of times and find Canadians friendly and smart. Unfortunately my experience at the border was the opposite of welcoming. At the crossing booth, after I explained that my company does business in Canada, and that I am visiting clients, the officer told me that business should be done "by locals" and put me in the parking lot. I was asked to come and wait for additional "questioning". The waiting room is uncomfortable and out of 70s. You don't get a ticket ("they will call you") and no information on how long it will take. I was "called" in about 1 hour. Additional interview took 1 min and they let me pass. For what reason was I sitting waiting? No welcome to Canada, no explanation, nothing. Clearly, Canadian officers have problem with understanding how business between US and Canada works and need re-training. I don't think I will be able to look at Canada the same again.

I did get all the documents to participate on the Manitoba Nominee Permanent Residence Program and never got the Electronic Travel Authorization, reason why I travel to this office and asked why your government did it to me and my family, the officers didn't answer and turn me back, because of that I respond that rules are maked to be broken at the way you do your things, USA didn't renovate my visa last November 2018 and I didn't say anything, just say thank you, xie xie ni hao, I'm going to invest my time with another culture that deserves my efforts and you don't ever will have the right to say anything.

Border patrol is reasonable and the lineups are even shorter crossing into Canada. If you travel frequently, nexus is a must as it will give you the same time to come there and back. Pretty good, would cross the border again.

Canadian border officers are generally super chill. Don't be afraid to be relaxed and friendly with them – this doesn't mean making small talk or giving more information than they ask for. In my experiences crossing the Peace Bridge, be courteous and friendly. If you have nothing to hide, that should be easy to do. And please, clean your car and remove anything unnecessary before crossing.
