I rarely have to time to make it to the library to browse, but the online hold system is amazing as I've been able to save hundreds instead of buying books online because just about anything I want to read can be found in the library network and ready for me to pick up within a week or two. Also, everyone I've picked up books from is very nice!

I have been going to Garden City Library for about 2 years. The staff is comprised of 9 extremely competent, knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. They are second to none! The director, James, has tremendous leadership skills. He doesn't talk down to the librarians. He works with them side-by-side. He has truly discovered the secrets of leadership and demonstrates this day-after-day. The other 8 members of the staff are also outstanding in the performance of their duties. They are knowledgeable, patient, and have extraordinary people skills. They especially show a great deal of empathy toward children, seniors, and the physically and mentally challenged. It's not just a job to them - it's a calling. I look forward to going to this library because I know the staff will make me feel welcome and make my visit a positive experience. I find it especially phenomenal that they do it all on a shoe-string of a budget in an undersized building. They are truly, "The Keepers of the Flame!"
