Client Review on Town of Griswold
Feedback:
While I have no hard feelings towards most of the people that work here, I worked for this company for two months and was fired today based on false claims and over exaggerated issues. I was a custodian and worked very hard for two months to try and keep up with three large buildings that were neglected for over 6 months. Almost the entire time I’ve worked here, I’ve busted my butt to get it looking good again. During my time here, I have never heard one negative feedback and I asked the first selectman multiple times how I was doing and if he was happy with my job. He told me multiple times that I was doing a good job. Then, he pulls me into the office today and says that I’m being fired because I left a coffee stain on a floor for a week (which is bull) and that I had to be asked multiple times to clean issues in a bathroom (which I was only asked once AND took care of the issue as soon as it was brought to my attention) and that I was sitting around (while I was waiting for a floor that i stripped and waxed to be dry and was told “well, you could have been doing something else while you were waiting”) or my favorite one, that I wasn’t taking trash out for over a week ( total lie) First and foremost, I told them on multiple instances, if there were any issues, just bring them to my attention because I would be willing to fix them for the future. When bringing issues to an employee , a reasonable boss would say “ okay, here are the issues presented before you. If they are not fixed within the next two months, you will be let go.” They would give you a chance to fix the mistakes and move forward from there. I’m a hard worker and don’t mess around with my work ethic and would gladly fix the issues on the spot. A good boss would provide you with the issues up front, give you time to fix them, and then allow you to maintain that level going forward. I was a supervisor at a hospital where if I found multiple issues with a certain employee, I would give them a ton of chances to fix their mistakes before even thinking about termination. I would even go as far as to show them how I wanted it done. To me, the way they handled this was not a good way to run a company and definitely not a good way to treat employees. Also, the level of threat that these issues posed to the health and safety of the public coming into the building was 0%. That is why I am giving this company a one star. Like I said, there are no hard feelings, but this is a warning to anyone that wants to seek employment here. Be on your guard, because they will toss you to the curb with a few false claims and without any warning. I should have seen the writing on the wall when the first selectman was talking negative about the previous custodian who got let go as well. Seems to be a pattern and it’s not totally on the employee side. The grass isn’t always greener. To anyone from the town hall that reads this, I wish you all the best. Most of you were good to me and treated me with kindness and dignity. You included me in holiday functions and it meant a lot to me.
