Feedback:

This gets 2 stars only because it's NOT the worst I've had to stay in. The price was more than was advertised but after the day wed had I didn't have the energy to even think about what I was paying. The small window air conditioner filter was chock full of dust and fur balls which was probably part of the reason it just couldn't keep the room cool enough... the bed sprayed felt particularly crusty, my girlfriend refused to take off her shoes in the room as the floors we well worn and definitely needed more than a vacuum... the small chairs in the room were quite uncomfortable, the TV in the room was smaller than my laptop screen. There was a fridge that was filled with frost. There was no phone, no coffee maker, no bag for the ice bucket, if I wasn't as dirty as I was from being outside all day I'd feel like I'd be dirtier getting into the tub/shower than going in. The staff were incredibly unfriendly, after looking through all the documentation my gf couldn't find the free WiFi password so went to the front desk to ask for the password (bc there's no phone) and the guy at the desk told her as if she was supposed to just know this. The "customers" in the hotel seemed equally as "friendly" we were outside having a smoke and a fella came up to us and pulled out a knife and started digging into his hand. He seemed obviously intoxicated and made even me feel nervous for my gf. The lounge area closed at 9 when the sign said 11. We'd really wanted to get some food or at least a drink after being broken down on the road and waiting 3 hours of a tow truck. There was coffee in the lobby in the morning and there is a community microwave in the hall. The pop machine only accepts coins. The bedding and towels seemed clean but there were signs that excessively dirty towels would incur and extra charge on your hotel bill. There didn't seem to be any bed bugs and while we would have opted to stay and pay for any where else it seems the only places we could find online were booked up. This really seems like the rigger hotel of maple creek I'd definitely recommend any where but here. It's clean enough that if I was covered in dirt and grime and looking for a relatively cheap place to stay in the long term it would be passable but seeing as maple creek is a touristy type place I'd feel like there would be a bit better rooms put aside for those wanting a nice clean place to bed for a night or 2. I know small town motels can be hard to make money on but the owners were getting out of a brand new top of the line Lincoln navigator when I got there so it didn't seem like they were that hard up for cash.
