Overall Feedback:
According to their Supervisor, I was not in distress and so I was hung up on...? (I was in distress, why else would I call a distress line!?) Talk about invalidating!! I called back and a different worker picked up. I tried to explain the situation but they hung up on me too! This line is in dire need of help. There is a lack of training in regards to trauma and a genuine lack of empathy and compassion. Apparently calling the line more than once a day is considered, "Long-term therapy," which according to them is not what they offer. And so, they hang up on you in order to silence you and avoid talking about it. This is borderline malignant Narcissistic Abuse and everyone who calls this line should record their calls and forward the recordings to journalists if they have a bad experience. I highly doubt those who finance this line would condone such behavior and if caught they would be forced to retrain and reconsider hiring more empathic distress line workers who are not suffering from Empathy Burnout or Compassion Fatigue; a byproduct of working distress lines for FAR too long. This has been a pattern of behavior throughout the duration of my calls here. There are several good workers on this line who make it worthwhile, however, those who continue to invalidate my distress deeply concern me. If a child calls into these lines and is treated as such, the risks that they will harm themselves is quite high! How on EARTH is this behavior acceptable!? Add to this that they have the power to write anything they want about you when you call into these lines!Shame on you Mobile Crisis Service. I will be contacting management and recording calls from now on. Anytime you abuse me I will send the recordings into management and potentially to the news. This is what it takes to provide a SAFE place for people who cannot simply go find therapy. Your distress line is NOT long-term therapy, but claiming that I consider it long-term therapy simply because I call it more than once a day is NO reason to hang up! This is absolutely abusive and sociopathic!
