If I could have given no stars, I would have. On 30th of October I visited NYC for work and traveled with my beau and once we dropped our bags off at the Intercontinental around the corner we decided to visit a near by store for essentials, toothbrush, body wash and such. We went into the Duane Reade said good evening, as is practice in our country, grabbed a basket and proceeded to shop. About 10 minutes into shopping (it took us this long since the products were in disarray and it was hard to find items) two policemen came down the aisle told my beau to turn around and raise his hands, which he did then he went back to shopping. I asked what was the issue and the first policeman threatened to arrest us once we left the store, stating that one of the employees saw us put a box of condoms into our pockets and we needed to empty our pockets. Since my beau did not have any pockets and I had on a jacket, I, totally insulted told him that we came to get a few things and proceeded to empty my pockets showing there was nothing in them. At the end of this foolishness I told my beau, lets go to another store. We went to the counter paid for the items in our basket and left. My issue with the clerks was that, not once did they get up from where they were sitting having conversation, did they offer to assist us with shopping which would have showed them we are not stealing condoms, of all things. SMH. CVS has always provided great service when have visited and Duane Reade needs to step up their game. Not sure if the same training was given to Duane Reade but there service in this particular store was horrendous.
