The atmosphere was amazing. There is a separate children's section so this is a library for all ages. I would highly recommend not only the library but the entire town of Portage as well.

i have gone to the portage library my whole life and it used to be an actual library, like actually quiet, like a library should be. the past few times i’ve gone to the Portage Public Library the staff is obnoxiously loud. i could hear every conversation they had anywhere i moved in the building. i had gone there one night and asked to have a study room because i needed to make a phone call and i knew that one librarian there would be interrupting my work, and also just didn’t want to be rude to the people actually trying to study in a quiet environment. they told me i couldn’t get one until a group was gone and i had noticed they had two rooms and only one group. i patiently waited an hour for the room to open and walked up to the counter where all the yelling librarians were and got my room. as soon i as i walked in i was shivering because i had the room with windows to the outside. i decided i had waited long enough to take my phone call and just went ahead and started it. as soon as i press call i hear the loudest librarian again. i check to see if the door is all the way shut.. it was.. the windows aren’t sound proof. how did anyone think that was a good idea? anyways he finally gets done yelling and i go to type on my computer and i don’t have wifi. the room i waited an hour for is freezing, still loud, and has horrible wifi connection which is the only reason i’m there. i don’t think i’ll be visiting the Portage Public Library anytime soon.

The employees are really nice. The library is clean and comfortable. It could be a little quieter, but otherwise is a really amazing place to go read, work, study, or look at books. They also have lots of fun programs for the public.

I love this library. The people that work here are SOOO nice! I just wish it was open 7 days a week. I NEED A BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
