We chose Elephant House for the views and were not disappointed. We saw harbor seals and porpoises from the deck within an hour of arriving. Mornings brought a parade of boats and ships, some close and others far across the channels. And don't miss the sunsets. The house isn't perfect. It has some creaky floors and squeaky doors, a trickle-to-torrent faucet in the kitchen, and a tiny TV that discourages staying inside and watching movies. They aren't kidding when they describe is as “High Bank Waterfront.” Not a place for walks on a beach or tide-pooling from the house. On the other hand, a small beach is only a couple minutes' walk up the road. San Juan Property Management responded quickly when we needed a light bulb replaced, the only problem we had during our stay. The gas fire made mornings cozy, the neighbors were quiet, and the view made other entertainment unnecessary. It was just right for our small group during some fine fall weather.
